UNIPA News(TEHRAN)01 March,2026: Iran faced another wave of airstrikes on Sunday, just one day after the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in joint U.S. and Israeli military operations.

Iran’s state media confirmed that the 86-year-old leader died following an airstrike described as part of a broader military campaign aimed at toppling the government of the Islamic Republic. The Israeli military stated that Khamenei was killed during a large-scale operation conducted by its air force.

According to Iranian broadcaster Iran TV, the strike also claimed the life of Armed Forces Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi, marking a significant blow to the country’s military leadership.

Hours after the confirmation of Khamenei’s death, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Tehran against retaliation. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the United States would respond with unprecedented force if Iran launched counterattacks.

“Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever been hit before,” Trump wrote. “They better not do that, however, because if they do, we will hit them with a force that has never been seen before.”

Meanwhile, Iran’s senior leadership signaled political and security countermeasures. Top security official Ali Larijani announced that a temporary leadership council would be established following Khamenei’s death to ensure continuity of governance.

Larijani accused the United States and Israel of attempting to destabilize and disintegrate Iran, warning that any “secessionist groups” seeking to exploit the situation would face a severe response, according to state television.

In strong remarks directed at President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said both leaders had crossed a “red line” and would “pay for it.”

The rapidly escalating situation has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, as tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States reach a critical point.

UNIPA News will continue to follow developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
