UNIPA News (Padang). April 5, 2026. The ASEAN Pantun Festival was held in Padang, Indonesia, at the West Sumatra Governor’s Office Hall.
This spectacular and phenomenal literacy event was attended by four ASEAN (South East Asia) countries. They are Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam. On April 3, 2026, the launch event of the ASEAN Pantun Literacy Festival was realized.
Witnessed by Mr. Mahyeldi Ansharullah, Governor of West Sumatra, members of the Regional People’s Representative Assembly (DPRD) Padang city and members of the Literacy Group led by Eka Teresia.
She succeeded in realizing the Literacy Awakening by reading ASEAN Pantun and publishing the best books.
The world of Indonesian literature and culture is growing with the coming together of the four ASEAN countries. This is due to a shared vision and mission to spread pantun and the beauty of literacy.
With the gathering of experts and professors from four ASEAN countries, the ASEAN Pantun Festival has truly sparked interest and enthusiasm among young people, especially Minangkabau women, in Padang, Indonesia.
Young people will continue to develop their potential, especially women, through programs to enhance women’s empowerment. So that the Role of Indonesian Women is recognized for their talents and contributions in Reading Pantun and Literacy in ASEAN and Internationally.This ASEAN Literacy Pantun activity makes Indonesia and West Sumatra proud in the international world.
