UNIPA News(Havana)-An American MQ-4C Triton reconnaissance drone flew over Cuban territory without significant obstacles, while a secret letter sent from Raúl Castro’s inner circle to Donald Trump was intercepted at the Miami airport, resulting in its carrier being sent back to the Island, according to reports from 14ymedio and The Wall Street Journal.
According to these reports, the missive was allegedly sent via businessman Roberto Carlos Chamizo González in an attempt to reach Trump directly, bypassing official diplomatic channels. The Wall Street Journal reported that the letter proposed economic agreements, sanctions relief, and warned of Havana’s perception of a U.S. threat.
A Stark Contrast
The disparity is striking:
- The drone crossed into Cuban airspace.
- The letter failed to cross through Miami.
Washington can observe Cuba from the air whenever it pleases, yet Havana could not even deliver a secret message to the White House without it being halted along the way. It is “tropical diplomacy,” but with a baggage scanner.
