UNIPA News Desk: A powerful late-night explosion near a Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) facility in west Belfast has prompted emergency evacuations and a major security investigation. The blast occurred on Saturday night in the Dunmurry district, causing alarm across the area and renewing concerns over regional security.

According to initial reports, the explosion took place shortly after 11:00 p.m. local time near the PSNI station on Kingsway in Belfast. Residents nearby reported hearing a loud detonation, while video shared online appeared to show a vehicle engulfed in flames outside the secured police compound.

Police and emergency responders quickly moved to secure the scene. Authorities evacuated homes close to the facility as a precaution while specialist teams carried out searches for any additional threats or suspicious devices.

Investigators are also examining reports that the vehicle involved may have been hijacked shortly before the explosion. Local sources suggested the car could have been taken in the surrounding area and later positioned near the police base. Forensic officers are now analyzing the site to determine whether an explosive device was used or if another cause led to the blast.

Security officials have not yet linked the incident to any specific group, and no motive has been confirmed. However, the explosion has revived memories of past unrest in Northern Ireland, where security forces have historically faced attacks.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Emergency services confirmed that despite the serious nature of the blast, no civilians or officers were harmed.

Officials have urged calm and asked anyone with information or relevant footage to contact investigators as inquiries continue into the incident.
