PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI — As the international community intensifies its efforts to restore stability in the Caribbean, UNIPA News Haiti has obtained the official deployment framework for the upcoming International Force Mission (FRG). Scheduled to commence in April 2026, the mission marks a pivotal moment in the global collaborative effort to suppress gang violence and safeguard human rights within the nation.
Leadership and Command
The mission will be spearheaded by Jack Christofides, who has been appointed as the Mission Chief and Special Representative. Christofides will oversee all strategic operations of the FRG, ensuring that the multinational collaboration remains cohesive. His immediate priority will be the arrival of the “First Wave” of security personnel, transitionally bridging the gap between local law enforcement and international support.
The Multi-Stage Deployment Plan
According to the report prepared by Sionel Youte, the deployment will be executed in phases to ensure operational efficiency:

  • The First Wave (April 2026): Leading the charge is Kenya, acting as the Mission Leader with a significant troop contribution. Joining them in this initial phase are the Jamaica and Bahamas contingents, providing a mix of specialized police and security support.
  • Operational Support: Belize will contribute a specialized small contingent to assist in ground operations.
  • Subsequent Phases: Chad is expected to deploy approximately 800 soldiers in the later stages, while Benin will provide several hundred troops following the initial stabilization period.
While the United States will not deploy direct combat troops, it remains the primary backbone for logistics, training, equipment, and funding, ensuring the mission is well-resourced for the challenges ahead.
Strategic Objectives: Stability and Human Rights
The FRG mission is not merely a military presence but a strategic intervention with three core pillars:
  • Restoring Stability: Securing critical infrastructure and high-conflict zones.
  • Neutralizing Criminal Elements: Limiting the influence of gangs and dismantling criminal networks that have paralyzed the capital.
  • Empowering Local Authorities: Providing essential support to Haitian public security forces to ensure long-term self-sufficiency.
    The Road Ahead
This multinational collaboration represents a unified front against lawlessness. As the first boots hit the ground this April, the eyes of the world—and the hopes of the Haitian people—will be on the leadership of Jack Christofides and the bravery of the participating nations.
UNIPA News will continue to monitor the situation closely, providing updates as the deployment progresses.
