UNIPA News(Haiti)-29 Aptil: President Mahamat Idriss Déby has announced that Chad will deploy 1,500 soldiers to Haiti as part of an international effort to combat armed gangs and restore security.
The deployment is expected to support a mission backed by the United Nations, aimed at strengthening local security forces and addressing the worsening violence in the country.
Mission Objectives
The international force will focus on:
Supporting the Haitian National Police
Dismantling armed gang networks
Securing key areas under gang control
Initial reports suggest that a first contingent of troops may already be in the process of deployment.
A Critical Reinforcement
The security situation in Port-au-Prince remains highly volatile, with large sections of the capital still under the influence of heavily armed groups.
Chad’s involvement represents a significant reinforcement in ongoing international efforts to stabilize Haiti and restore public order.
Developing Story
This deployment could mark a turning point in the international response to Haiti’s crisis. Further updates are expected as the situation evolves.
