UNIPA News(WASHINGTON)-US President Donald Trump has stated that the recent downing of an American fighter jet will not disrupt ongoing diplomatic engagements with Iran, underscoring Washington’s intent to continue talks despite intensifying hostilities.

In a brief telephone interview with a US media outlet, the president refrained from providing details about the ongoing search and rescue operation for the aircraft’s crew, describing the matter as highly sensitive and military in nature. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the way the situation has been portrayed in parts of the media, particularly coverage surrounding efforts to locate missing personnel.

When questioned about the potential impact of the incident on diplomatic negotiations with Tehran, Trump firmly dismissed any such concerns. “No, not at all. This is war. We are in a state of war,” he said, signaling that military developments would not derail parallel diplomatic channels.

Meanwhile, regional developments continue to point toward a rapidly evolving conflict landscape. According to a semi-official Iranian news agency, the United States recently proposed a 48-hour ceasefire through an intermediary country. The proposal reportedly followed mounting pressure on US forces in the region amid escalating confrontations.

Sources indicate that while Iran did not issue a formal written response, it effectively rejected the proposal by continuing large-scale military operations. The same sources suggest that US diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions have intensified, particularly in the aftermath of reported strikes on American-linked military facilities in the Gulf region.

The broader conflict, which began with coordinated air strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran in late February, has since resulted in significant casualties and widespread destruction. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and several neighboring countries hosting US military assets, leading to further loss of life, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and international aviation.

As the situation unfolds, the dual track of military confrontation and diplomatic maneuvering continues to shape one of the most volatile geopolitical crises in recent times.
