UNIPA News(Mexico) 22 February2026:Acapulco experienced a wave of violent incidents on Sunday, with at least four public transport vehicles set on fire at different locations across the city and a separate armed attack reported against a state prosecutor’s office facility.
According to local sources, a passenger urvan operating on the Playa Lights – Foot of the Cliff – Center route was burned in front of the Sacred Heart Church in the Mozimba area. Witnesses said unidentified individuals set the vehicle ablaze and fled the scene shortly afterward.
Another transport truck was torched in the Las Cruces neighborhood. Among the other affected units were an urban bus serving the Hospital–Vacacional route and a heavy cargo vehicle found damaged with bullet impacts near La Venta.
In a separate but related incident, an armed attack targeted the Public Ministry unit of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the State of Guerrero in the Zapata sector. Authorities recovered approximately 30 spent shell casings from the scene.
During the attack, one officer from Mexico’s National Guard was shot and injured. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said his condition is being monitored.
Security forces have launched investigations into all incidents and increased patrols in several high-risk areas. No group has yet claimed responsibility. The events have raised fresh concerns about transport safety and public security in the city.
