PORT-AU-PRINCE — In a decisive move toward ensuring national stability, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) convened a high-level working meeting on Monday, May 4, 2026, with the leadership of the Gang Repression Force (FRG). This meeting marks a critical milestone in the security preparations for Haiti’s highly anticipated general elections.
According to an official statement released by the CEP, the discussions were led by the institution’s Executive Director, Uder Antoine, and the Political Director of the Gang Repression Force, Lavoi Beppe.
The primary focus of the meeting was to align the mission of the FRG with the electoral roadmap, specifically focusing on the establishment of a “Secure Environment” for voters and polling officials. Given the complex security landscape and the influence of armed groups in various regions, the electoral advisers emphasized that the credibility of the entire democratic process hinges on robust security measures.
During the session, the CEP reiterated its unwavering commitment to delivering an electoral process that is not only inclusive and transparent but also fair and credible. “We are working in accordance with republican principles to meet the profound expectations of the Haitian people,” the Council stated.
As Haiti approaches this pivotal democratic transition, the collaboration between the CEP and the FRG is seen as a vital step in reclaiming public trust and ensuring that the voice of every citizen is heard without fear of intimidation.
