UNIPA News 10 July(TEHRAN)-Israel has shared new intelligence with the United States alleging a new Iranian plot to assassinate U.S. President Donald Trump, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The reported intelligence emerged as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain elevated following recent military exchanges.
According to CNN, the Israeli warning was conveyed to U.S. officials earlier this week. While American intelligence agencies have been monitoring indications of potential threats against Trump in recent weeks, the Israeli assessment reportedly identified what it described as a specific alleged assassination plot.
The reported intelligence has not been publicly confirmed by U.S. authorities. Some American officials cited by CNN suggested that the Israeli assessment could also be intended to influence President Trump’s deliberations over whether to expand U.S. military action against Iran.
Iran has repeatedly pledged to avenge the 2020 killing of Major General Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike ordered by Trump during his first term in office.
Speaking to reporters in Ankara on Wednesday, Trump referred to what he described as ongoing threats against his life.
“They want to take out the U.S. leader—me,” Trump said, adding that he believed he remained a target but had so far avoided any attack.
The reported intelligence surfaced amid signs of differing approaches between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the future direction of the conflict involving Iran. Netanyahu has reportedly supported continuing military operations to achieve additional strategic objectives, while Trump has emphasized seeking an end to hostilities, citing concerns that a prolonged conflict could further destabilize the global economy.
According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, Trump and Netanyahu held a telephone conversation on Thursday and agreed to continue coordination between their governments. The statement also said Trump briefed Netanyahu on recent U.S. activities in the Gulf region.
Separately, reports from the funeral of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said some mourners chanted slogans calling for Trump’s death and displayed banners threatening the U.S. president.
Previous reporting by The Wall Street Journal indicated that Trump and Netanyahu maintained frequent communication during the early stages of the Iran conflict, with discussions reportedly covering intelligence assessments and potential military targets.
