UNIPA News(Tehran) 08 June-Israel launched airstrikes targeting military-related sites in central and western Iran early Monday, according to statements from both Israeli and Iranian authorities, escalating regional tensions despite reported calls from US President Donald Trump for restraint.

The Israeli military said its air force struck military targets linked to the Iranian government in western and central Iran. Iranian state media reported explosions in several locations, including Isfahan, Karaj, Tabriz and Tehran, though officials did not immediately provide details on the specific targets or the extent of any damage.

A witness in Tehran reported hearing at least one large explosion west of the capital. Following the strikes, Iranian authorities temporarily closed the airspace around Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

The attacks came hours after Trump stated that further military action by either Israel or Iran would not affect ongoing US efforts to pursue diplomatic engagement with Tehran. In remarks reported by the Financial Times, Trump said he remained in control of US policy decisions and suggested that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not directing Washington’s approach to the conflict.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that Israel used air-launched ballistic missiles during the operation but did not provide further details.

Meanwhile, air raid sirens sounded across Israel after the Israeli military reported the launch of a missile from Yemen toward the country. Israeli emergency services said there were no reports of casualties or impacts.

The missile launch was not immediately claimed by Yemen’s Houthi movement, an Iran-aligned group that has previously targeted Israel during periods of heightened regional conflict.

In Saudi Arabia, missile warning sirens were activated in Al Kharj governorate, an area that hosts Prince Sultan Air Base, where US forces are stationed. Saudi state media later announced that the missile threat had passed without providing additional information.

The White House did not immediately comment on the Israeli strikes or indicate whether the operation had been coordinated with Washington.
