UNIPA News| Washington D.C-Former US President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has metastasised to his bones and other parts of his body and is causing him significant pain, his son Hunter Biden has said.

Speaking in an extensive interview with the BBC on Friday, Hunter Biden became emotional while discussing his father’s health and described the situation as deeply difficult for the family.

“The cancer has spread, metastasised into his bones and further,” Hunter Biden said. “It’s very painful, and it’s very debilitating in many respects.”

He said the diagnosis had placed a considerable emotional burden on the family and that it was difficult to watch his father cope with the illness.

“The only thing that I’d say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good,” Hunter Biden said.

Biden’s health has been the subject of sustained public scrutiny, particularly during his presidency. At 83, he was the oldest person to serve as president of the United States, and concerns about his age and physical condition became increasingly prominent during his final years in office.

Those concerns intensified after Biden’s June 2024 presidential debate against Donald Trump, when his performance triggered widespread criticism and renewed questions about his ability to continue campaigning. Biden subsequently withdrew from the presidential race amid pressure from members of his own Democratic Party.

Vice President Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee but was defeated by Trump in the presidential election.

Biden later disclosed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer after leaving the White House. His family has continued to face questions over the former president’s health and the extent to which his condition was known during his time in office.
