UNIPA News| London| 17 July-A 46-year-old man has appeared at the Old Bailey charged with the murder of a 24-year-old woman who was fatally stabbed inside her west London home while she was sleeping beside her husband and three-month-old baby.
Prosecutors allege that Daniel Sean James carried out a series of attacks in Hayes, west London, on the morning of July 12. According to the prosecution, he was first seen walking through the area dressed in black and carrying a large knife before approaching multiple residential properties.
The court heard that James allegedly stabbed a man in his 20s in the back while the victim was walking along a street. Minutes later, at approximately 7:51 a.m., he allegedly forced entry into the home of Kirandeep Kaur after kicking the front door.
Prosecutor Charlene Sumnall told the court that Mrs. Kaur’s husband awoke to her scream and saw a figure leaving the bedroom. Mrs. Kaur sustained a fatal stab wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at 8:26 a.m.
After the alleged attack, James is accused of escaping by jumping from a window of the property. The court heard that he broke both ankles in the fall and collapsed after attempting to flee. Police detained him nearby following the incident.
The prosecution stated that both Mrs. Kaur and the male stabbing victim were strangers to the defendant.
