One of the most pressing issues of our time is the relentless rise in the cost of living. Economic instability across the globe, coupled with energy crises and market volatility, is having a direct and profound impact on the everyday lives of people in our country. What was once considered a temporary challenge has now become an ongoing reality.
Middle- and lower-income families are bearing the brunt of this crisis. While incomes remain largely stagnant, the cost of essential goods continues to climb. From rice, lentils, and cooking oil to electricity and transportation, no sector remains untouched. As a result, maintaining a basic standard of living is becoming increasingly difficult, forcing many families to cut back on essential needs—an alarming trend with long-term social consequences.
This situation is not solely the result of global factors. Domestic inefficiencies also play a significant role. Weak market monitoring, the influence of syndicates, and delays in policy implementation have further aggravated the crisis. Although steps have been taken by authorities, the lack of effective oversight often undermines their impact.
Addressing this issue requires a coordinated and pragmatic approach. Strengthening market regulation, expanding social safety nets for vulnerable populations, and ensuring transparency in production and supply chains are essential steps. At the same time, public awareness must be increased to encourage responsible consumption and foster a more sustainable economic environment.
The challenges we face today are significant, but not insurmountable. With decisive leadership, sound policies, and collective effort, it is possible to navigate through this crisis. The goal must be to build a fair and stable economy where every citizen can live with dignity and security.
