UNIPA News,02 June-Taylor Swift has announced that she has written and recorded an original song for the upcoming animated film Toy Story 5, marking her first contribution to the long-running Pixar franchise.
The singer revealed that the track, titled I Knew It, I Knew You, will be released on June 5, ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on June 19. The song will also feature on the official soundtrack of Toy Story 5.
Swift confirmed her involvement through a social media post on Monday, ending weeks of speculation that linked her to the highly anticipated sequel. Rumours had intensified following a series of promotional teasers, including “TS” billboards and countdown campaigns that appeared in several major cities.
In her announcement, Swift said contributing to the franchise had been a long-held ambition. She stated that she was inspired to write the song after watching an early screening of the film.
The track was written and produced by Swift alongside longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. According to Swift, the song was inspired by the character Jessie and incorporates musical influences from her country roots while reflecting elements of her broader artistic evolution.
Toy Story 5 director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton praised Swift’s contribution, saying she quickly connected with the emotional themes of the film and the character that inspired the song.
“The song is so deeply connected to Toy Story. So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there,” Stanton said.
Toy Story 5 is scheduled for release in cinemas on June 19.
