UNIPA news (Padang). July 5, 2026. Mr. Vasko Ruseimy suggests that West Sumatra become Special Region to Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia , Mr. Fadly Zon.

At the International Seminar entitled “Bridging Friendship: Strengthening Indonesia-Netherlands Diplomatic Ties via Bukittinggi-Amsterdam Which was held in commemoration Anniversary 100 years of Big Clock in Bukittinggi, Padang, Indonesia.

In front of the Ambassadors and the Minister of Culture, Mr. Fadly Zon and the Dutch Ambassador. West Sumatra has an important role in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

The historical journey and struggle of West Sumatra and its heroes inspired the government to achieve Indonesian independence. Bukittinggi served as the capital during the Soekarno-Hatta era.

Mr. Fadly Zon said that West Sumatra deserves to be a Special Region because of the struggle of heroes and being the center of Indonesian government after Betawi or Jakarta.West Sumatra will be better known because it has a place as a Special Region.
