UNIPA News (Padang). April 22, 2026. Every Indonesian woman knows the owner of a cosmetics business, founder, and president commissioner of PT. PARAGON TECHNOLOGY and INNOVATION.
She is the pioneer of the halal cosmetics brand Wardah and several other cosmetic brands. They have successfully controlled 30% of the Indonesian cosmetics market in Indonesia
Mrs. Nurhayati Subakat was named as one of the “20 Most Influential Women” by Fortune Indonesia along with the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani and President Director of PT. Pertamina Nicke Widyawati on Juni, 2022.
Five characteristics of her leadership is divinity, caring, (humility), toughness (grit) and Innovation.
Mrs. Nurhayati is a philanthropist in running her business.
She is a donors by donating 52 billion rupiah to ITB for research development, scholarships and infrastructure for students.
The two symbolic ITB buildings from the donors are the Paragon Innovation Building and the Wardah Foundation Building.
She was born and raised in Padang Panjang. She enriched herself in elementary school SPG Exercise, She continued to Diniyyah Puteri Padang panjang. Her father died. She must helped her mother trade for life necessities. She enriched Senior high school in SMA Negeri 1 Padang and continued her study in ITB.
On April 5, 2019, Mrs. Nurhayati got the Honorary Doctorate from her Alma Mater ITB.
She got ASEAN Business Award (ABA) For Women Entrepreneur category in Bangkok, Thailand.
She was born on July 27, 1950. She has 8 siblings. Her father ‘s name is Abdul Muin Saidi Muhammadiyah branch leadership and her mother’s name is Nurjanah. She married Subakat Hadi, a Javanese descendant from Kebumen. His business started from a home cosmetics business to having a factory in the Cibodas Industrial Area. In 1995, the company introduced Wardah. In 2010, she launched Make Over.
Pada 2020, PT. PARAGON TECHNOLOGY and INNOVATION launched and run. Then managed by his three children. Her Success thanks to his and his family’s hard work and prayers.
